    Looking for some basic help??

    Hi all,
Im new here, and looking to eventually build a home cockpit based on an a320 using Wilcos A320 software. My plan is to build all my electronic circuits first then all going well implement them in a fully modeled cockpit.
Im an aircraft mechanic, but this is seriously confusing!
For starters I understand the concept of leo bodners card for inputs, and using mousetrapping macros - to switch on the switch in flight sim, but how do i get (say for example the apu master switch on the overhead) my hardware (led) to light up?
I cant really understand how i can get FS to send a signal to my led to indicate that my apu master is on?
Can anyone help out with this? Im mechanically capable, and fabrication is no problem at all, but i do not have ANY clue about programming...

    Thanks

    Rob

Hi Rob, welcome to the forum.

In your example, the A320 APU master switch, what you need is software that simulates that particular function. If FS or the addon your using doesn't, then you'll need A320 system logic software like Project Magenta to provide the 'signal' for you. This software talks to an output card (Leo's cards are input cards), to which your LED's are wired and should illuminate when the software tells them to.

    Hi Sean,

Thanks for the help. Can you recommend an output card for Dummy's? Programming is something that seems to bypass me!

    Hi Rob

The closest one I know of for 'dummies' is the CPFlight MIP737, but as you can guess, it's only for the 737 Main Instrument Panel.

Other are more generic and need a certain degree of programming or configuring.

I've yet to decide on an interface for my 737 overhead, but the FlightDeckSolutions InterfaceIT cards are on my shortlist. I've had a very quick insight into how they are configured, and it seems relatively straight forward.

Other choices include the phidget cards and opencockpit cards, both seem popular choices, but I don't know too much about them but think you need to do a bit programming to get them to work.

    Hi Robert
I am building my cockpit based on my own eceltronics cards and my own software as well as Eric Marciano FSUIPC Exporter to get data from Wilco Airbus.
Have a look on my project at: http://www.a320-project.skalarki.co.uk
and let me know if I can help you more.
