Re: best stable, do-able, usable, versions of project magenta gc, cdu, and sys.

There are some new PM builds out as 02/05/11 for Boeing: GC484, MCP484, CDU 484, RCDU 484, PMSystems 176, and PMInst 126. There are also updates for other aircraft as well.

Re: best stable, do-able, usable, versions of project magenta gc, cdu, and sys.

    Hi Guys,

does anyone have experiences with the newest builds yet? I´m considering to update my builds, which are partially 2 years old or even older, but I don´t want to mess up my system.

I know for a long time there long time been a serious problem with the route disappearing, which always kept me from uptadting. Has this problem been resolved with the newest builds?

    Thank you!

As far as I'm aware, trying any build is simply a matter of dropping it's .exe and .dll files into the correct PM folder, overwriting the old one (which you should save a copy of elswhere). If you want to go back to your previous build, copy the build version you want back to the correct folder, overwriting the files again and you're back where you started.

Be sure to save all different versions of PM in their own folder when extracted (eg GC486, GC480) as the .exe file always has the same name (PFD.exe)

Re: best stable, do-able, usable, versions of project magenta gc, cdu, and sys.

    Hi Sean,

thanks for the info. Actually, I was aware of that. My question pointet more into the direction if the new builds are usable and worth downloading and installing.

    @ all:
I gave it a try and installed the newest builds for Boeing GC, MCP and CDU (all 486 / Feb. 15. 2011) as well as PM Systems (180) and PM Sounds (10.
After doing 3 test flights, I found the new builds to be very usable so far. I did not go too deep into the FMC yet regarding things like fuel prediction, holding, fixes and route offsets, but for a "quick and dirty" flight everything was o.k. I found route waypoints to be shown as "fly-over" on the ND, but actually handeled as "fly-by" by the autopilot, which is after all better than the other way around.

There are a few new features and functions which I will have to test and get used to. This includes the new autopilot function which I did not use yet.
