CockpitSonic DUAL seat trainer - SIXPACKS

    Hi there
I wondered if anyone of you who also got the CockpitSonic DUAL seat trainer could help me out.
I have not got my sixpacks working, not with the default 737 or the flightdecksoftware suite. Even with the new EHID there is no signs of life.

When you run light test, does the sixpacks light up?

    Hi Nax,

I have the same thing too,

Sixpacks and warning lights do not light up.

Mathias told me that all should with Project Magenta software, but I only fly PMDG.

I know many people here have cockpitsonic DST, and I personaly am very happy with this product. Great quality, easy driver, but no support from the cockpitsonic side unfortunately...

I would be interested to find a solution in this too

Re: CockpitSonic DUAL seat trainer - SIXPACKS

I have been asking Mathias several times, but he more or less refuse to answer. It's really a pitty that it don't work and we don't even get an answer when asking.
I'll look into hooking the sixpacks up on a seperat card. They are connected via flatcables with plugs, and I could make a little printcard with that socket and hook the sixpacks up via a leobodnar card. It would work, but shouldn't really be nessesary since it should work via EHID driver.

Cockpitsonic should fix this for us! It is supposed to work!

    HI Nax

I have the same card and the same MIP by Cockpit Sonic.
I'm tryng to have from Mathias the wiring schema to connect the sixpack card to the new FlyBoys interface to light up all annunciators with PMDG 737.
In other case you can wire any LEDS and Switches to the IO card ( I use OC) but is more difficult.

I hope Mathias from CS send Us some schemas.

    Regards
    Arnaldo

I've recently added USB HID device support into the COM library in the Lua plug-in facilities in FSUIPC. These are also supported in WideClient, so can be used on Networked PCs too. My own testing was done on a cockpitsonic electrics board from their overhead (the part with the electric meters on it).

In order to support another device it would need an 'experimental' Lua plug-in writing with logging on on-FS displays to show what was being exchanged. Without protocol specs from the maker this sort of "prying" is the only way. But it usually is not complicated -- switches and buttons set or clear bits in bytes, indicators are lit or extinguished similarly in data you send. the data used is usually very short -- the electric board has inputs of 4 bytes, including the Report Type ID, and there are just 3 output types - one of 2 bytes to control brightness and two of 7 bytes for the digital displays and the three indicators.

The big advantage of USB HID devices is that they can be accessed by more than one program at once -- something near impossible with COM serial devices. So a plug-in can handle part of a device whilst it's main intended driver does its own thing, with no clashes.

I realise this isn't engineering but programming, so it may not be the way you'd want to look at solving your problem.

    Regards
    Pete

Re: CockpitSonic DUAL seat trainer - SIXPACKS

For programing I have to rely on others.
I have now come in contact with both Mathias and the developer of the EHID, Uwe Schneider - ( http://www.uweschneider.de/EHID.php?lang=en&ehid=dev ), software by mail today. I will supply Mathias with a pic of my breakoutboard so it's asured I get help for the correct hardware.
I guess Mathias then can tell Uwe the correct values to trigger/read for the AFDS & sixpacks.
    Fingers crossed.

I hope and think that we can work this out with the hardware already supplied, but it's much down to Mathias and Uwe to get it right.

Re: CockpitSonic DUAL seat trainer - SIXPACKS

Hi, NIck and the others user of PMDG based cockpit,

If you want interface your sixpack card and the PMDG the only and the BETTER way is to use the Fantastic driver released by FSB.
With only 30 Euro you can Lights up all the annunciators and light of the PMDG 737.
For the LEDS you can use the Phidgets LEd outputs cards or USB outputs OC.
Finally on my cockpit I can illuminate all the annunciator, Maste, Fire, Fire Panel of my PMDG 737.

    Hi,

Can you please let me know where to find the driver released by FSB you mention?

I am beginning doing some research to build a MIP a cockpitsonic seems a good solution. I will use PMDG until new version comes...

Re: CockpitSonic DUAL seat trainer - SIXPACKS

    Hi amando,

you can fin the interface here
Please read carefully the instructions before purchase. I have also a Single Seat Trainer by cockpitsonic and use PMDG 737. The problem is that you can't interface the MIP with this interface directly. what's interface you'll use for your cockpit? OC, or others?

    Let me know
    Arnaldo
