Correct size B-737 NG panels and stuff

Hi

I have been building a 737 NG cockpit for some time. I am almost done with the wooden work, and the computers are all set up.
So I am about to start with the electronics, the switches, buttons and leds.

Then I discover that the different suppliers of panels and other hardware do not agree to what is the correct size of the part. I know that CPFlight have MCP and EFIS in 85% size and in 100% size. And that is fair, because they tell us so.

And I have noticed that very often the suppliers do not tell the dimensions of the part.

I have an example: The sixpack

OpenCockpits sixpack is 60 x 44 mm
FlyEngravity sixpack is 54 x 29 mm
FlightdeckSolution sixpack is 46 x 24 mm

Same thing with the Master Caution and Fire Warn switches, and the AFDS panel as well. They all have different sizes.

I mean - how hard is it to find a B-737 and do some measuring?

Anyone ever thought of this?

finding one: not that hard
getting in one with all your rulers, camera and other tools: a bit harder...just try that tomorrow at your local airport

Maybe not everyone is a detailfreak....

i am....

but.....even boeing doesnt care too much about details, colours and if pieces fit right or not (if its not critical) ...so why should we....

Yeah....i do....see pictures below, thats a real 737 sixpack, and one picture of the real sixpack next to an engravity one.





dimensions real sixpack: 50,74mm x 25,59 mm

dimensions of the FLYengravity sixpack: 50,8 mm x 25,7 mm

Ok, Ok, i have to admit...i'm guilty: i was less then 1/10th of a millimeter off when i took the dimension for our sixpack...sorry wont happen again !

the 54x29 mm of our sixpack you refer to is not of the actual sixpack button, but those sizes you mention come from the cutting template in our manual. The aluminium sixpack button slips into an aluminium case, and the cutting hole for that is ofcourse slightly bigger again. So the dimensions you mention there are not correct for our sixpack !

I dont know where you got all those dimensions from, but ours where off because it was the dimensions for the cutting template, not the actual sixpack. Maybe this goes for the other 2 also. Nonetheless im happy to see ours is closest (ok, ok, by 1/10th of a mm
