    MIP Placement

This is a question that I have always wondered, and its about time I knew the answer

At which height should the main instrument panel be in a c152/172 aircraft, how high or low is the seat in conjuction with the MIP, would a short person tend to have less view than a tall person. Should your chin be in line with the glareshield, or higher? or lower?

I would like to know the placement so that my sim remains realistic!

    Cheers,

    Hi Alex

Have you considered popping along to your local airfield and asking for access to a Cessna. I'm absolutely certain you'd be given access.

    Found out the answer...

The bottom of the MIP should be between 48cm and 55cm from the floor depending on what the model type of the Cessna is.

    Re: MIP Placement

I was digging through some files I downloaded a while ago and found this information:

CESSNA 172 MEASUREMENTS – THESE ARE APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS ONLY, AND NOT ACTUAL MANAFACTURERS MEASUREMENTS – TO BE USED A GUIDE ONLY

    CABIN / FLOOR

HEIGHT FROM FLOOR TO ROOF (INSIDE ROOF) = 124 - 125CM
FROM RIGHT DOOR TO RIGHT OF CENTER CONSOLE DISTANCE = 37CM
DISTANCE FROM PADDED LEFT DOOR TO PADDED RIGHT DOOR (AT HINGE) = 96CM
WIDTH OF FLOOR AT START OF CENTER CONSOLE = 78CM

(BECAUSE DOORS ARE PADDED THE DISTANCE BETWEEN DOORS IS GOING TO BE LESS THAN THE WIDTH OF THE MIP, JUST TO SAVE CONFUSION!)

    SEATS

WIDTH FROM LEFT OF PILOTS SEAT TO RIGHT OF CO-PILOTS SEAT = 96CM
DISTANCE FROM FRONT EDGE OF SEAT TO MIP = 57 - 58CM

    DOORS

    DOOR HEIGHT = 105cm
    DOOR WIDTH = 89cm

    GLARESHIELD

WIDTH OF GLARESHIELD = 30CM (FROM FRONT OF MIP TO WINDOW)
    LENGTH OF GLARESHIELD = 105CM

    MIP

    MIP HEIGHT INCLUDING GLARESHIELD = 46 - 47CM
MIP WIDTH INCLUDING GLARESHIELD = 105CM
HEIGHT FROM FLOOR TO BOTTOM OF MIP = 48CM
HEIGHT FROM FLOOR TO TOP OF MIP INCLUDING GLARESHIELD = 93CM

    CENTER CONSOLE

    CONSOLE HEIGHT = 47CM
    CONSOLE WIDTH = 16CM

FUEL SELECTOR PANEL (FLOOR PART) = 12CM
(MEASURING FROM CENTER CONSOLE TOWARDS YOU)

    RUDDER PEDALS

FROM FLOOR TO TOP OF RUDDER PEDAL = 27.5CM
