Cera 212 Cockpit

I'm interested in making a panel for the Cera 212 but which can be pretty much generic for any helo.

I've done some digging and thought the BU0836X usb controller would be the better solution working with FSUIPC. With this in mind I've two quick questions that you seasoned vets might be able to answer instantly.

The BU0836X controller, can I connect latching on/off toggle switches directly to it? Or would the switch being in the On position give the controller the impression I'm holding the 'button' down? I've e-mail the website last week but I've had do reply as yet.

Also, has anyone attempted to control the Cera 212 (or 412) using FSUIPC? I've attempted as a basic test to map buttons from my joystick to switches like Starter, Batt, Gen, Fuel etc but they don't move in the sim. At this point I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or it's just not able to be done.

The only thing I can say is, use the hardware from Opencockpits. At the moment prgramming my cockpit with this hardware. Have to say the best investment I made for my cockpit.

Learn SIOC and the rest is easy.

I've actually got an OpenCockpit master card, but I'm an electronic's newbie and to be honest a lot of what it does was beyond me. Plus having to wire it up to an old PC PSU scared the heck out of me!

I just want a simple solution I can basically wire a few toggle switches and rotary's and off I go.

SIOC is the lamguage to program the hardware from opencockpits. You can see examples in the forum from Opencockpits. It looks very hard in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, not that hard. Nico knows best about SIOC programming.

I use latching switches and rotary encoders connected to a BU0836X without any problems, programmmed through FSUIPC.

I understand what you're saying but like I say, I invested in the opencockpit master board over a year ago and it's still in the bag. I just can't grasp it and after looking on their forums today I'm recommended to purchase their USB board in addition. I just feel I could buy the BU0836X and get my project finally working without knowing anything but how to connect two wires to a terminal.

All I have to do now is to see if I can control the Cera functions from a basic USB joystick using FSUIPC, if I can't do that that no hardware is going to help!

Have you had any luck mapping the starter switch on the 212? I've been trying to do that with the Cera 412EP with no luck. If I was smart enough I'd develop a utility that would read out VC switch command lines as they were activated. Alas....
