Help me to retrieve my own password

I installed a filter software in my computer , but one day i changed the passwod and , then i forgot it!!!
I must be mad to do so !! Now uninstallation becomes a trouble.
It is impossible to reinstall the OS and we don't wanna by use of other software...
how to work it out? does the system log record this?

I can probably get this fixed for you. Need to know:

    - Operating System
    - Is the password the operating system password
    - or the password for the filter software

And finally - before I could help with this - a couple of references that you are not trying to hack someone else's computer!
Quicker, Better, Cheaper - pick two
