    Unhappy Opencockpits EFIS module

    Hi
I have just received the Opencockpits EFIS module and attempted to connect it to FSX running the Level-D 767.

I have installed the latest FSUIPC, SIOC and your Lekseecon software.

I have successfully tested the EFIS with the test software and the switches on the screen match what is happening on the module.

The SOIC screen shows that FSX is running and FSUIPC

I think I have successfully installed the IOCP server as the SIOC screen is showing it connected as the Client Module #0.

SIOC also shows the module as device 22 in the Devices window.

The IOCP Server window shows no connection.

I keep getting messages about 767 VAR not loaded?

Is there a step by step set of 'plain English' instructions somewhere for how to connect an Opencockpits module to FSX and the Level-D 767 software?

I am not a programmer and find the 'programmers instructions' a bit daunting. I'm sure many others have this problem too.......I hope so otherwise I will feel a bit dumb!

I tried to follow the IOCPSERVER checklist for configuring the FSX EFIS but no luck, I found it very confusing due to the translation.

I have the EFIS module, the software but nothing talks or works.....PLEASE HELP iif you can.

    Regards
    Mike

    Re: Opencockpits EFIS module

    Hi Mike,
I think you have done a lot but in completely the wrong direction...
You should not install an IOCPServer, please remove that first.

Then you should download my Plug & Play files for Opencockpit modules:OC_modules.zip
In the file description you will find plain english instructions how to download and install.
In the installed folder you will find a plain english ReadMe.pdf with detailed instructions.

It is a piece of cake (no programming needed) if you just take the time to read the information.

    regards,
    Nico

Wonderful........it all works and as you say....it was a piece of cake.

Your pdf instructions were in beautiful clear 'plain English' and easily followed.

The reason for my problems was I followed the download link on the Opencockpits EFIS module page which showed a download for the 737 EFIS Installation and User Manual V3.0 and if you read that it talks about IOCPServer etc and thats where I started down the wrong track.

1/2" thick of documents later I was totally lost and confused hence my shout for help on your forum which is absolutely fabulous.

Your pdf instructions should be on that OpenCockpits EFIS page rather than buried in the OC folder.

Also it may be useful if it is better publicised on your sight too........its an amazing well written document that makes installation of the modules a piece of cake.

Thankyou for your help and support.......now its off to fly the 767 with the EFIS.......shortly I will buy the MCP and FMS CDU........I can't wait. What a great hobby we have.

    Kindest Regards
    Mike

That is the documentation of Opencockpits for the 'generic' use of the EFIS (for 737). That has nothing to do with my 'powered by lekseecon' scripts for use of the EFIS 737 as an EFIS unit for the Leveld767...
But you're right I'll will spent some text on this at my web site.

    Have fun!
