Jazeera Airways, the new, privately owned airline of Kuwait, has signed a contract with Airbus for six more Airbus A320s, taking its total orders for the model to ten.

Jazeera Airways inaugurated airline services last month with its first two aircraft. It will use the additional A320s to increase services on existing routes within the Middle East, as well as to begin routes to new destinations.

Each of Jazeera’s A320s will seat 165 passengers in a single-class layout, and be powered by CFM International CFM56-5 engines.

“We have shown that, with the Airbus A320, we can deliver a quality product at an affordable price, and we are now looking to spread that success more widely,” says Jazeera Airways Chairman and CEO, Marwan Boodai. “We are also complementing the new technology of the Airbus A320 in the air with the latest Internet reservation technology on the ground.”

Airbus’ A320 Family aircraft are the most successful of all time, having set the benchmark for air travel in their class. They lead in independent passenger surveys, and are the preferred choice of both value-based and established carriers.

“Whichever airline you fly with, you get a better travel experience with the Airbus A320 Family, as more and more Jazeera Airways passengers are finding out,” says Airbus President and CEO Gustav Humbert. “And when it comes to value for money and economical running costs, airlines recognise that the Airbus A320 Family is the best, as 200 or so customers and operators can testify.”

Airbus’ A320 is part of the world’s most modern airliner family, which comprises aircraft for every airline need, from small to large size, and from short hops to the longest hauls. The range of Airbus passenger aircraft in production today also offer something that no other manufacturer does – a common cockpit across the board – with unbeatable savings in training and flexibility in airline operation.

More than 3,700 A320 Family aircraft have been ordered to date, making them the most widespread aircraft in the Airbus product range.

Airbus is an EADS joint company with BAE Systems.
