A320 emerges from the carpentry disaster area!

    Hello friends,
For only the second time, I'm able to post in this section of the forum! I've been on leave for nearly three weeks, timed to coincide with a little bit of Christmas overtime pay. My little *** [whoa! This site censors the word A*S?? What if I have a donkey- or mule-related thread to put up??] has been worked off over the last weeks! And as a result, I think my project has been transformed! It's nice to be able to show you all these photos, as there is no doubt in my mind that I could not have achieved all this without this forum and the many many generour, patient and helpful people here!

    These are for you guys!

    Overview from the rear:

    A slightly 'arty' shot!

Sorry for the thumbs, but I could not get them to display properly on the page except as 12000 by 16000 size! Does the forum resize them automatically??

Still a lot of work to do... some painting under way this morning. But progress tastes good. I don't need a mouse any more once the aircraft is on the ramp, waiting for me. That is NICE!!

    Nigel.

Just got a good look at your set up on your webspace Nigel. Excellent work. Where do you get your lettering from for the function labels.... i really like the look of them. Have you ever seen these freebies? http://www.hispapanels.com/paneles/i...cPath=56_28_29

    Hi Steve,
I bought a Dymo LabelManager 120P and the white-on-clear tape specifically for this project... So I just print out that I need and slap it on. Then take it off and put it on STRAIGHT!

    Hi,
It's all MDF! The monitor stands are made out of thicker, 12mm sheets of MDF with various bits of actual real wood. The visible part (what I call the overlays for the monitors) are made out of 3mm MDF, carefully cut out to size. I drill the corners of the cut outs with a 12mm drill bit and then jigsaw the bits in between. This gives that nice rounding at the corners. Then I sprayed the lot with metallic graphite paint. I did undercoat some of the panels and not others. The undercoat left a much rougher finish as it was brushed on, not sprayed. And I was too lazy to sand it all down! They are secured in place with screws or the Dzus fasteners for wood sold by Geremy Britton - a product I highly recommend!

It would be great if a moderator could help out with the image sizes! If I make them full size, will the site scale them down? The full versions are at my own site anyway, which is below in my signature.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys!

    Nigel.
