    737 overhead layout

    Hi all,

Been following a few posts recently to do with 737 Overheads, as a result I would like to build myself a basic one so that I can get the electronics and offsets working before laying out the big bucks on something more permanent. Which may be a bit longer than planned as I seem to be spending all my money replacing parts at the moment that have gone wrong!!

Does anyone have, or know where I can get a full size printable colour layout of the 737NG overhead?

Preferably something that I can print myself through one of the poster programs, or even something that I can order.

Quality doesn't need to be amazing, just as long as it is colour and full size (or as close as).

    Hi

Not full size but this picture should expand to be close enough

Ian`s site is also well worth a good read, if you have not already done so

    Regards

    Re: 737 overhead layout

I have a modified 737 overhead image that I can send you with all the annunciators blacked out and toggle guards removed so that you can add all your own components without them being 'pictured' on the overhead. You can print the overhead in full colour for £7 as a sticker, then just stick on to opal/white acrylic (3-5mm) which will cost around £10 (delivered) for a 500x500mm sheet. Basically an overhead for £17, just a matter of buying annunciator caps (which are cheap) and adding components as you go along......If you don't require back lighting then just apply your sticker to 3-4mm mdf board which will cost about a £5.....so an overhead for £12.....BARGAIN!

    Re: 737 overhead layout

    Alex,
Just thought I would add in to this as I have a daughters wedding coming up and cant afford the overhead right now, I spent so much time trying to get the right look for annuciators on my home built panel and finally found the solution!. Tescos sells an outside clothes airer that is just the correct dimentions for the annuciator holder £20 !!
Quick cut with a metal saw and then cut out the plexiglas (3mm) as Juan has done on his site and black the edges. Couple of those £10 high intesity lamps from Maplins (They are selling a work light on special right now) works out at 13p for each lamp. Cut the printed circuit board carefully, I used two lamps in each one mounted on a bit of balsa wood and then stuck the label on the front from Juan's site on self adhesive paper. Sweet and I have the whole overhead lamps lit up for £35..
    Bargain..

Just thought I would add in the shot of the annunciators being assembled... It was really difficult sourcing a retangular piece 25mm * 12mm and the Tesco clothes drier was just the ticket... Cut them 20mm in length with a chop saw and then inserted each of the 3 LED lamps in each one.. The one that fit the bill was 72 LED Inspection Lamp : LED Torches : Maplin Electronics .. Broke the whole thing apart and split it into 3 lengths and then chopped each one at a 3 light break... Couple of wires on it and it look great with the plastic on the front... Hope that helps anyone looking for an option ..
