Fixing knobs on main du panel

Hi i have engravitys desktop panels and struggling with a couple of things maybe you can help.

I dont know how the knobs are supposed to be fixed to the main du panel.

The rotary knob goes through the mip,
Then i have tightened this with nut from the front of mip.
The du panel then can be placed over the rotary shaft and nut.
Im then left with a shakeproof? washer and the knob,
Do the knobs need to be glued onto the shaft of rotary switch? bacuase they are very loose but do turn the rotary switch.
And where does this other washer go?

Hope you can decipher the above and help.

    thanks

    steve

My Knobs have small m3 (?) grub screws in 2 places on the sides and the knob itself is tapped out. I'm not familiar with engravity gear but on my home made mip i generally have the nut on the outside of the panel im attaching onto the mip, with the rear of the mip counterbored out to accomodate the switch etc.

The washer you are referring to goes into over the shaft of the rotary switch and the little lug sits in one of the recesses in the switch. This converts the 8 way switch to however many you need less than 8 for that particular switch. Experiment and you'll get the jist.

I've not stuck my knobs on properly yet, a bit blue tak helps. Real knobs have a fixing screw as Steve describes.

    you dont need the washer.
for the knowbs get some M3 grub (imbus) screws. Drill 2,5 mm holes at the 2 places where you see the dot. Then tap 3mm wire into them en tighten the knobs with the 2 m3 imbus screws.
