Overhead Confusion.

I am helping my dear friend (try) build an overhead for his 737ng and am looking for the size of just the forward panel (not the AFT), according to the opencockpits website the panels put together measure 662 x 787mm, but I have hears differently from various members. So what is the measurement of the forward overhead?

EDIT: Does this sound right: 'forward: 26"X28" 66cmX71cm'?

Hi he lives in Birmingham, I am taking a trip up there in a few weeks time to help him make a frame but needs the overhead measurement to be correct first time round. According to marcuspilot, I always take him as my reference, the measurements for the overhead are: width 670 mm and length 675 mm.

There is a pdf on his website with all the measurement. The overhead is listed on page 32.

1 inch = 25,4mm so

26" 1/8 =
26" = 26 * 25,4 = 660,4
+
1/8" = 25,4/8 = 0,675

= 661,075mm ~ 661mm

27" 15/16 =

27* 25,4 = 685,8mm
+
25,4 / 16 * 15 = 23,8125mm

= 709,6125mm ~709,5mm

Alex the 1/8 is a fraction of one inch. If you were to divide one inch into equal 8 parts that is what the second number of 1/8 means. The one in front of the eight represents the measurement I need. So, it is 26 inches and one eighth of an inch, probably the equivalent of two coins stacked together. Same thing for the 15/16. We have just divided one inch into 16 equal parts(fraction) and the 15 in front of the 16 represents the measurement we need., we need fifteen parts of the sixteen for our measurement. 15/16 is almost one inch but is short about the thickness of a thin coin. Unless you do not have a scale is would be pretty hard to see what I’m trying to convey to you.

For the most part 26"X 28" is close enough as you would not be able to tell the difference with the naked eye.

There is a lot of difference between them all.

Which one is right? Now I really lost and does not know which is the right measurement, I didnt think it would be this hard to work out?

Are all 737ng overheads a different size?

Well Alex I have two real overheads sitting in my office. I measured both of them for you and they both are the same dimensions. One is from a three hundred series and the other is from a four hundred series. The overheads to my knowledge have stayed the same dimensionally throughout all the series including the NG.
