    Simkits nuts and bolts!

    Hello.

I am refurbishing my Simkits gauges and need a few nuts and bolts and then some more to attach them to my MIP.

What size screws/nuts do I need to attach the faceplate to the casing...I take it will be something like M1, M2 or M3 etc?

I don't understand the 'M' terminology used to describe the size of nuts/screws.

All I know is that the screws/nuts are 3mm wide?

    Can anyone help me?

    Thankyou.

Just take a guage to B&Q or a hardware store and just test out a few to see what will suit your application best.

That's what i do. Especially as for me B&Q is almost oposite my house lol.

    Hi Alex,

It is quite easy, when you have a M3 bolt that means that the outerdiameter of the threat-bar is 3mm, if fact if you measure accurate if will be a bit less.
I am not sure but I think you need a spanner of 6mm. If you have a M5 bolt you need a 8mm spanner. Is it not possible to buy metric size bolts and nuts in the UK?

    Best regards,

    Mathieu.

    Re: Simkits nuts and bolts!

If b&q was opposite my house i'd be in there all the time, I did have a Homebase 5 mins from me but they closed down....but they are way overpriced anyway!

I guess I could go down to Maplins with a gauge or just one screw and say I want ten....

    Good common sence thinking Gez!

try poundland or your local pound shop in the high street, they do normally have a section in there with hardware, mine have a selection of small screws.

    worth a try.
