Another newbie, one from The Netherlands.

    Hi,

A short introduction of myself: Mathieu my name, 42 years old/young and living in The Netherlands. My profession is marine engineer and I am working worldwide on dredging equipment. I am probably one of the very few on this forum who never play/work with flightsims and have no knowledge about PCs.
So why did I register? Well I have another project and recently I decided to add sims technique to that project for several reasons.

My project is that I am building a fuselage of a Fokker fighter from 1939, I am trying to build it as accurate as possible with the same dimensions and materials as the real bird. At http://fokker-g1.nl/design-step5.htm you can see some images of the cockpit and at http://www.nederlandseluchtvaart.nl/...87/index3.html ( post 27 ) some images of the sentersection which I am constructing at the moment.

Also the cockpit had to be as accurate as possible, but that is not that easy. The right instruments are almost impossible to find. Most of them were manufactured by Kollsman. The Dutch Army Air corps ordered them by Kollsman but demanded Dutch text and metric system. I managed to find a few and for those I didn't find I bought instruments in the States. From the later instruments I have to changes the dial-plates. Unfortunately for me the Dutch instruments I found contained radio active paint, and since some time it is no longer allowed for a simple civilian like me to have such instruments. I have sold them

Because I have to changes the dial-plates of the instruments which means that the never will fly again, I have decided to rebuild all the gauges that the can be used for a flight simulator.

That is why I am here! I have already purchased the book from Mikes flightdeck and hope that with the help of this book and this forum to succeed

    Best regards,

    Mathieu.

    Hi,

Thanks for your welcome words! I'll keep you all informed, but first I have to find enough information and deceid how I'll build the sim. What would be the best section of this forum to start a threat with my questions? I asume it would be general building but perhaps other sections will be beter.

    Best regards,

    Mathieu
