Hello to All! (GA cockpit building)

    Hello All,

Since I am looking on these forums for quite some time now, I thought it was time to introduce myself.
My name is William and I am based in the Netherlands. I am not new to flight simulator, my first sim was FS3 and to be quite honest, I had every version since then

I wanted to start building for quite a few years now. After the last FS weekend in Lelystad I could not wait any longer. So, I have finally started planning my own GA cockpit. I will be building a Mooney (M20) cockpit. All the switches, LED’s and buttons are already in my possession and let me tell you, I did not foresee how happy that makes me … I also have the annunciator legends laser engraved which looks stunning!

I will be projecting the “main six” first with PM (due to costs) and the navigation & radio instruments will be coming from Flight illusion I will also use the I/O board for interfacing. I have to find a solution for the GPS system, but have seen some nice alternatives here on the forum. I am now working on the main panel(MIP), and after trying to do this with Plexiglas / hobby glass (which did not work) I have decided to go for 4 -5 mm MDF. Easier and better to work with. I will post some screenshots of the progress soon

Well, just so you all know, that is my story in a “nutt shell”. I will be around from now on, great solutions here.

Good luck to all builders here, and we’ll speak soon!

    William.

Re: Hello to All! (GA cockpit building)

RealityXP provides a nice Garmin GNS530, but it uses the limited Garmin nav aid data base, so updates from Navigraph are not possible.

I enjoy the building process but you will find there are always issues when mixing products from different companies. Some you can find a work-around, others will leave you very frustrated.

It's best to spend many months researching the products you plan to use and asking many questions. Either in the companies Forum or directly by email, phone, or other means such as here.

    Thanks everyone!

Great to see / hear such enthusiastic people gathered in one place.
I have just uploaded my first pictures in the GA forum. Yes I know ,long way to go, but it’s fun!

@ Alex Jay thank you Sir, it indeed the forum I will be in most of the time! I have some things to do before everything is ready to be implemented, but I will most definitely need help at some point

@ N242AM thank you for the tip. I have indeed seen this, I plan to use the reality XP GNS530, looks fantastic with the right hardware, also found on this forum

Thanks for the positive words everyone!
    William
