want to build....custom joystick
I'm looking to possible build a custom joystick by salvaging my old saitek x45. everything but the primary fire works. what would i need and where would i look to get it? I'm already missing my mechwarrior games.

A joystick is just pots, switches and buttons - so yes you can salvage parts and just use the joystick's controller card as the interface. Open it up and take a look. Post pictures if you need help.

this might be interesting as a project then....the biggest question is how to i set up an I/O for it. would i just leave it as a saitek stick? i know that would make it easier...maybe replace the pots with hall sensors. I'll post on my progress once i get started. Do you know any good sites to get parts from?
