Austrian Airlines received its first Airbus A319. The aircraft will join the carrier’s current Airbus single-aisle fleet, consisting of eight A320s and six A321s. In total Austrian Airlines has ordered seven A319s. This new aircraft will be the first reflecting the airline’s new corporate identity with a new livery, new interior colours and new seats.

The A319 is a member of Airbus’ A320 Family, the best selling single-aisle aircraft family ever, which is renowned for its unmatched cabin comfort and economics. It offers wider seats, wider aisles and bigger overhead stowage than the competition, which means long-range comfort on short haul routes. The airline’s A319s will seat up to 126 passengers in a very comfortable and flexible two-class layout and are equipped with CFM 56-5B6/P engines by CFM international.

The new A319s reinforce Austrian Airline’s move to the most advanced and efficient family of aircraft in this category. All A320 Family aircraft and A330/A340 widebody-long-range aircraft, of which eight are in service with Austrian today, share similar flight decks, systems and fly-by-wire flight controls, allowing pilots to switch from one aircraft type to another with only minor training. This operational commonality between all Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft allows Austrian Airlines to take full advantage of a number of benefits, such as savings in crew training and aircraft maintenance.

Austrian Airline’s new A319s will also enable the airline to further enhance its scheduling flexibility, with the possibility to select between the A319, A320 and A321. And, as the different aircraft can be operated by the same teams, any aircraft can be deployed at short notice to meet changes in demand.

The A320 Family is the market leading single-aisle aircraft family with nearly 3,100 aircraft sold to over 120 customers and operators all around the world.
