    Best LCD Multi-Monitor Arrangement?

    Hi All,

I plan to connect three 22 inch flat screens to my comp via THD2Go - digital version. They will display my screen view from FSX. Question is on the physical arrangements of my three monitors.

    1) Should they be side by side, as if placed against a flat wall?

    2) or should I angle the two outside monitors inward to simulate a curved screen?

Also, I understand that a 57 Hz refresh screen is needed to obtain 5040 x 1050. Any helpful suggestions from users on make and model 22 inch LCD that seems to fit the bill based on their THD2Go experience?

    Thanks.

    Charlie

I guess it depends on your cockpit.... for a 767 (which is what I'm building), 3 22inch LCD barely covers the front windshield (5 would be better) so it definitely has to be in a straight line. I suppose if you're building a single seat fighter you could angle them.

Definitely make sure your monitors can handle 57 Hz .... most Acers don't. I'm using a Samsung SyncMaster 225BW, 226BW and a cheap I-Inc (not sure of the model) and 5040x1050 works great.

    Regards,

Try the TH2GO forum at www.widescreengamingforum.com

There is a very long thread on monitors that work and those that don't.

    Re: Best LCD Multi-Monitor Arrangement?

Thanks Bryn and Henry for the hlpful info.

I spent a large part of yesterday going through all of the posts re monitors for THD2Go. Interesting, but also frustrating. Each appealing monitor sent me to the review section of retailers to read the "cons" and was disappointed that none were very clean.

I think I'm back to square one with multiple monitors directly connected to video cards to avoid a lot of the reported hassle of THD2Go.

But I don't know how to undock the FSX "Left-Front" and "Right-Front" views yet.

I presently have two 21-inch 4:3 LCD moniors (Westinghouse and Samsung) plis a 24" Hyundai HD monitor, 1920:1200. Also have my main Dell XPS 630i comp (Windows XP), 3.6 Ghz, 4 GB Ram, nvidia 8800 GTS, and two lesser comps sitting on the floor beside me waiting for a try at networking. The networking is appealing because I can use relatively inexpensive Hyundai 24" monitors at 60 Hz refresh rate. Up to five LCDs for complete and true 180 deg surround.

I'm thinking of moving up to 9800GTX cards to upgrade performance a wee bit. I have removed overclocking from my vocab.

The main thing will be what sort of hit do I take on FPS.

I haven't had the courage to ask if Win7 will be an enhacement to performance or another staggering blow to my sanity like Vista was.

I guess much of this is OT for this subforum, too. Sorry.
