    Anyone try SuperATC?

Just ran across this from the makers of IYP (It's Your Plane). Has anyone tried using this? It looks like it has potential for the default ATC and RC4.

SuperATC© permits you to speak with the Microsoft Flight Sim Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) using "real world" communication protocols. The SuperATC system listens to what you say, parses the phraseology, then automatically makes the appropriate Microsoft ATC menu selections for you. And best of all... it's FREE... Enjoy!

Looks interesting - will give it a go.

Best of all - it appears to be free!

It may be "Free", but if I understand it correctly it's a part of a payware programme (IYP).

So, it's a free subset of that payware program. So what? Even if it is only provided free to entice you into getting the full program with all of its extra goodies, surely there's nothing wrong with that -- if you only want the ATC speech recognition part, then you only need the free part.

I don't understand your "but" at all? Care to expand on it?

    Regards

    Sure Pete,

As far as I understand it (but please correct me if I'm wrong) the "Free" part of the program is not stand alone but needs the payware part to function. Nothing wrong with that, as long as one realizes that you have to pay for the other (needed) part.

    Best regards,

You are most certainly wrong. I've no idea how you got hold of such a strange idea. And if you buy IYP you certainly don't need or want SuperATC -- those facilities have been in IYP for a long time, and having both running would certain give weird results!!

Im still wondering what they mean by 'Speak with Radar Contact ATC' on their AVSIM advertisement. Pete, do you have any idea if this implies you can use Super ATC to control Radar Contact also?

Yes. That's the only function of SuperATC really, to recognise commands and replies spoken by you and forward them on to either the default FS ATC or to Radar Contact, as appropriate menu choices. The idea it yto speak instead of pressing buttons or keys.

"Its Your Plane" (IYP) includes this facility as well, and has done for a while, but IYP also includes a CoPilot simulation who you can give commands to and get to carry out checklists appropriate to your aircraft.

Both IYP and SuperATC are based on the Microsoft speech recognition system, which you use to "train" the computer to understand your voice first.

Excellent, I would love to try this with RC. I hope to give it a whirl once the sim is back together.
