    I've ended up with a start routine for which programs to start up and then assign to appropriate cores although I think there is a program that would do this for you - cant remember the name?

    I'm not about to trust some random shadeware app to do what I should know how to do myself. Do the services settings for your particular OS from www.blackviper.com, reboot, then start task manager and kill the process on anything extraneous.

    Although if your pc is a dedicated fs machine you can turn off some of the services permanently anyway, I just end up assigning cores to the running apps, normally have FS running on its own core as it will max it out and have the other stuff sharing core e.g. OS, Activesky, any IO apps etc.
