    Flight deck door (737)

    Hi
I have just bought my new flat and made a SIMroom with an rather odd door opening. I think it will be perfect for a flightdeck door, but where to get one?
What I'm looking for is a cockpitdoor from a Boeing, preferably from a 737.
I've tried ebay and googeling around for scrapyard shops but hope some of you members in here can help my out by at least providing some usefull links. I guess it shouldn't be an impossible thing to pick up from a aircraft graveyard or some places like that, but we don't have many of them in norway

    Nax,

I was only on a website a couple of days back who made one. I can't remember it for the life of me though. Anyway i dod have a picture from my collection of sites over the years. This isn't mine and is the property of the simbuilder who built it. Just to give you an idea of what you can acheive with a bit of mdf and some cut aluminium. Not a bad finish

If it shal be a replica, it must have a better look than this.
The real deal should do it

Cockpit doors are very difficult to find especially from a popular boeing 737 aircraft. I think i've seen 2 listed online in 10 years.

If you did find one you'd be looking around the £1,000 mark at least if you're wanting that real deal realism.

    Re: Flight deck door (737)

737 doors are extremely hard to find.

I got mine in 2002 after a brandnew 737 got upgraded with a balistic door.

And thats the reason why you hardly can find any now: All flying 737's have the balistic doors now. Balistic doors are extremely expensive. And when a 737 with one gets scrapped the door is taken out and kept in inventory as a spare. They dont end up on ebay for a bargain.

The older door all got scrapped in 2001/2002. So the only way to find one is from a old 737 parked in the desert prior to 2001/2002 or from someone who allready has one at home.

And like Gez said: If you find one for sale, it wont be cheap.

I've attatched 2 pictures of mine to give an idea of how they look like on the cockpit side for those who want to make one themselves.

    Re: Flight deck door (737)

Thanks for great input on my doordream.
I didn't expect the doors to be THAT expensive and some hombrewing might just be the thing here, thus I will still keep searching.

Thanks for the pics. Could it be an idea to document the doors with even better pictures and some measurements for the archives?

Have you contacted Nick at APHS (www.oncealoft.com) to see if he might be able to help? I know they have a 737 now that they are selling the cabin of and his name is the first that comes to mind in regards to hard-to-find items at a reasonable price.
