    OHHHHHHHHHH :O Now I understand, WOW! all this time I thought it was to remind the pilot of how many times he tripped over the pedestal and almost fell and smacked his nuts on the yoke column trying to get into his damn seat and a reminder to get the techs to make a better J track system lol

    Well as the name says, it reminds the pilot of the current flight number his jet is operating under. Today at least in Europe a lot of flights have alphanumerical callsigns and therefor they are writing small sheets of paper as a reminder.
