    Re: 737 Throttle Quad Knobs

    This any good:

    http://personal.telefonica.terra.es/...edestal_en.htm

Unfortunately there are not dimensions for everything, sometimes you have to use your head a little and 'scale up or down' to work out the size of something as compared to another part.

If you know that a TQ handle is 50cm and the picture of the speed brake is half the size of the handle then you automatically know that the speed break is 25cm, if it appears a little less then it could be 20cm....and so on etc....

That's how many builders do it in here.....

There's a saying on mycockpit.org which I hear alot and that is:

'No 2 cockpits are the same'

BTW: I will continue to look for files for you, will let you know if I come across the dimensions!

    Cheers,

    Alex

    Re: 737 Throttle Quad Knobs

I don't have the actual dimensions, but I did some work on this myself, and
    have started making these parts.

It was a while back that I made these, and I can't remember exactly how I
arrived at the dimemsions - I think I measured a 727 Flap Handle and figured that it was about the same and then scaled the Speedbrake off photos with
    a bit of artistic licence.

    I have the following:

    Flap Handle Knob:

Base is flat and square 30x30mm.
    Max height is 14mm
    Min height is 6mm
Rear of handle slopes inwards from base to meet max height at 5mm from rear.
Front of handle is vertical to Min height and then slopes backwards to reach
Max height at 19mm from front edge.

This means that there is a 6mm flat surface at max height.

This should give the basic shape, but some of the edges are rounded on the real thing.

    Speed Brake Handle:

    Overall Length 50.8mm
    Depth = 14mm
Face is essentially a RA triangle with the thin end cut off.
    Max height = 18mm, min height 9mm

Again, this should give about the right shape, but some rounding/chamfering will be needed here and there to make it look exactly like the real one.

I filed mine out of a lump of bakelite which happened to be 14mm thick, so although it looked about right to me, I was a bit constrained by that.

Plenty of folk on here with nice TQ's though, so I'm sure some kind soul
could take the measurements for you.

    Cheers,
    Rob

    Hi Paul,

This pic might help you. Found it on a website, don't know how accurate it is.

    Later,

    Pedro

    Re: 737 Throttle Quad Knobs

Thanks Pedro, that's a big help.

Thanks Bob, that's exactly what I needed. Should be able to sort everything out now. I know it doesn't have to be exact but, the rest is as near to scale as I can get it so I wanted this to be as well.

Big thanks to everyone who helped, very much appreciated.

    Paul
