I also need a 10" or 12" TFT screen, but i only found some TouchScreens (more expensive than simple ones) and with a fat case.

Re: 10,4" LCD wanted
If you google the PlugandFly LCD reference number you will find it much cheaper here in the US.

I doubt that the tax is 100%.
Just enquire. Pretty sure it is much lower.Jackpilot

Re: 10,4" LCD wanted
The tax may not be 100% but we end up paying:
Initial cost
Shipping
Customs duty
Value Added tax on all of above
Customs clearance agent handling charge
It can still give a good saving depending on what country you live in, but you just have to hope the item arrives in one piece!

Re: 10,4" LCD wanted
The UK seems like a terrible place for importing!!!
I sent some items (Panels, Interface cards..etc) to a friend in France , from NY state, and he just got it at home.
I thought the EU had no economic borders, ie: same legislation.
Phil 744 (UK) made some panels for me and they arrived here same way.. in the mail box.
May be worth a try on a small item..

Re: 10,4" LCD wanted
Yes, depends on the value of the package - it is just as well to be aware of the potential upper limits of cost if importing something more expensive from a commercial source that is going to come with correct export/import documentation. In general, I don't think France is any better than the UK for importing kit, in fact the Value Added Tax rate is lower in the UK than in France and Germany at present. We pay the VAT rate of the country the kit comes from within Europe, or at our own national rate if from outside Europe. Customs Duty would only be applicable for goods coming from outside Europe.
I have successfully bought GoFlight kit from PC Aviator in the US, and made some savings over UK retail pricing - but I would have been out of pocket if I had had to send a faulty item back to the States!
