Throttle quadrant, fuel levers, sliding parts

    Hello,

With the construction of my 737 throttle quadrant I needed some parts that could slide in and out as for the fuel levers... Tried a few things with aluminium and pvc but both didn't work as expected. Maybe because I don't have the tools to work with aluminium.

After all I have managed to create a nice slider witch could be made smaller or bigger depending on your needs, and most of all it slides beautifully. It is very easy to construct and if this can help somebody with the same problem, then I'm happy that I could share my idea here.

    Here it is:

All sizes are those needed for my fuel levers. If you want larger or smaller sliders, then adjust the measurements to fit your needs.

    Materials:
    - (1) thin copper rod 2.3 mm, length 45 mm.
    - (2) thin copper rod 2.3 mm, length 20 mm.
    - (3) full copper rod 6 mm, length 40 mm.
    - (4) copper pipe, outer diameter 7 mm, inner diameter 6.2 mm, length 40 mm.
Make part 1 flat along all sides except the top (see orange profile).
Make part 2 flat at one side over 10 mm.

Solder parts 1 and 3 with the flat sides together. Make sure you have a good and clean weld.

Slide Part 4 over Part 3 and fix part 2 temporarily with mounting wire so that it will be easier to work with.

Next solder the long side on the copper tube. Fix only the long side, because only one side is soldered, a small play can still be eliminated.

    Both parts together fully retracted

    Both parts almost fully extracted

All parts mounted with the rest of the fuel lever.

    Regards, Wendy
