    J35 Draken cockpit

Since 2004 I've been involved in a project where we've created a mobile simulator (housed in a bus) from an old AJ37 Viggen cockpit. The intention has been to make it as real as it is humanly possible within a reasonable budget. my contribution to the project is the computer systems. That includes navigation, HUD, RADAR, simulation of features not available in FSX (for example engine stall) and much more.
Here is a film showing some of the features:

Since a year we've also been busy doing the same thing with a J 35J Draken. As with the Viggen I've been responsible for the software, and now we have a fairly good working radar simulation.

Here is a film showing the main features of the radar so far:

And here is a film showing more of the cockpit:

I've included some comments to explain what you see. If you think this looks like a interesting project you can also find out more on our forum: www.novelair.com/forum or my programmers blog: sul37.blogspot.com

Thank you for the kind words.
I'm the project leader for these simulators, I'm also the one that works with the hardware, hooking up the instruments to the computers etc.

The attitude indicator is powered by 115VAC 400Hz, it contains AC servos and synchros. We feed it with synchro signals for pitch, bank and heading and it follows the movements in FSX.

    Re: J35 Draken cockpit

Some new development. I've added weapons to the project.

This is still in early development but seems promising. At the moment we only have a simple AIM-9B implemented, but the structure of the program is made to support new weapons to be added easily, even air to ground.

read about it on my blog http://sul37.blogspot.com or see for yourself here:

What an incredible flight simulator you have! I missed your first post as I was in the hospital then. Thank you for sharing this.

I have worked on Draken as electrician, many years ago.
And the fine videos brings up memories.
    Super cockpit, beautifully performed
