    Aerosoft Sim?

    Hi,

I just came across this, very interesting.

    http://flightsim.com/main/notams09/aero0526.htm

Also opencockpits has new products for Airbus drivers plus a pedestal for 737.

I have known about this for almost a week now and thought it'd be a good idea to bump the post. Im hoping that maybe some of use home builders can register at the Aerosoft forum and offer up some suggestions on what we'd find important for a new FS as home builders.

I am just glad someone is comming to the party. I felt unhappy that Microsoft seemed to loose interest in their excellent series, and have decided not to continue. I wish any one who picks up the batton and continues the very best and may they be as succesfull in their endevours as Microsoft have been, no lets rather say even more successfull.

That would be great if we could get them invited in, but since they have well over 30 pages of discussions on it there I dont know how likely it would be. I did go over and make a post there with my 2 cent worth regarding how the builders need a core sim that's powerfull, accessible, and with the ability to network to easily for a function similar to FSUIPC/Simconnect, etc. I wish them the best.

    Re: Aerosoft Sim?

I've been looking through the Aerosoft forum and saw that they are working on a new sim, Mathijs is going about this in a fantastic manner and appears to be building it on customer feedbacktaking the pros and cons from MSFS etc.

He has opened a section for cockpit builders so I am bumping to get you all to go and give feedback/wants/needs etc as we have an almost "fresh start" here to get a product made with us in mind!

    Re: Aerosoft Sim?

Will be interesting to see how this Aerosoft idea develops. There seems to be a misconception that serious money needs to be spent on hardware to meet regulatory requirements. The reality is something completely different. The FTD (flight training device), pictured below, is run on nothing more fancy than eight Dell desktop pcs that you can pick up from most PC stores. The operating system is a mix of Windows XP and Vista. In fact all the IT hardware used in the device is COTS to minimise support costs.

The reality is many organisations do not have the money to invest in high spec computers. Desktop PCs are becoming the norm in many flight simulators/training devices to keep costs down.
