    How to modified rotarys?

    Hello pilots,

I thik this is stupid question, but i dont get it
i have looking and looking around net about this, but havent found answers.
I have many 2x6 rotaryswitches, got those 1€/ each, will using with OC-cards.
If its possible to use those everywhere in cockpit i will buy more.
    So, how to modified those?
    - Is 2x6 coming 1x12 if i connect those two pin in center?
    - how about if 3 (obs audio), 4 (inboard dspl), or 8 (autobrake)?
    Cockpit is 777.

    thanks
    Marco

It is 2 kind of rotary switches that we use in our cockpits. 8 position switches (45 degree), and 12 position switches (30 degree). The 45 degree switches are not so easy to locate, but I think aviationmegastore have them.

Mostly no need to modify the switches. They have a disc with a tap on. If you check carefully, you will see that there are several small sqare numbered notches on the switch. Turn the switch at the most left (anti-clockwise). Then move the disc with the tab so the tab go in another of the notches. This way you can adjust how many positions the switch should have. Try it out. Easy when you get the hang of it.

Also you should have a multimeter, so you can measure the resistanse between the polarities. The ground is usually the one in the middle.

And by the way. There is nothing called a stupid question regarding cockpit-building. Good luck.
