When you first posted with the title i thought you were having a problem with a component, then i looked and saw these flowers and i thought what on earth has Mike done with his sim now

Then i realised you've been snapping with that camera of yours, and what beautiful pictures you have taken.

    Very nice.

Mike, which one of the Cannon SX10 do you have? Does yours have the SI and HDTV on it?

The SX10 IS is image stabilized but does not record video in HD. The SX1 which Canon finally saw fit to import to the States will be available next month. It's about $200 more than my rig. Same pixel count and zoom, but uses CMOS instead of CCD. And of course the HD feature.

There is a very sophisticated OS hack available for the SX10 camera that I found out about last night.

It allows storing and taking photos in .RAW format and allows complete control of f stop settings. This camera is limited to wide open f stops at high zoom, even in manual mode which makes setting a good depth-of-field rather spotty.

It also allows up to 4GB or one hour of video record time rather than the 2GB or 30 minutes, whichever occurs first.

There are other features included in the hack, but these are the one's I'm most interested in for this camera. I have to get a card reader for the camera card though, the program must be loaded on the card. It is completely reversable and must be chosen upon startup unless you override it in the menu settings.
