    Didrik,

Dont jump too far ahead pal, keep it simple first, build something simpler than the radio unless you are really confident you have the knowlege!

Mayby try and build a button box or throttle quad first!

Plus take some photo's of the stuff you build and show them to the world, it all keeps us inspired!

I've considered that building only a buttonbox and I reconed that if I build the radiostack it is actually a box with buttons and I may get knowledge enough to hook up the screens while I'm in progress with the other stuff aswell. I will definitely post pics if I'm building it

This will be VERY easy indeed, its simple, its basic, has minimal switches, gauges and radios, no complex cutting to do on the mip, its small and compact too, the switches are very easy to get hold of, but you would have to build a flight stick instead of yoke, the air vents are easy to get hold of on ebay, glare shield can be made from a sheet of bendy mdf or use a strip of plastic and bend the curves using heat, everything here is simple, the fuel gauges i have seen on ebay many of times and cheap. You can replicate this on a budget, nothing too complex here at all, would be excellent with simkits gauges or VERY easy to mount a lcd panel behind and interface software gauges etc.

    Id say go for it!

    Nice aircraft, what is it?

Just what I wanted too hear! It's a Diamond, Katana DA20-100 Very nice indeed. For the sticks, I am planning on buy two cheap joysticks, make them longer and put the "base" under the seat

Again, thats an easy mod, damn easier than intergrating a yoke into the panel.

I think you have just found your aircraft.

Go for it and get building!

Yeah! I think so too All I'm waiting for now is the approval from the local Flying Club. God I hope they are interested in having their own sim!

    Realistically,
to do this project your looking at $25-30,000 and thats relatively conservative. If anyone thinks they can do it cheaper then they are incredible craftsman with lots of time. Just guages alone nothing else your looking at close to $5000

    Regards
    Tim

But I'm probably goin for non-real gauges, either PM or custom made. Will that reduce the costs? And why would this build be close to $25000? What is it that is so very expensive?
