    Arrow Announcement: "The Sim-Modules"

    Hi all,

I'm posting this here, not in the "Suppliers Product Announcements" Forum (as I'm not really a supplier - yet? )

Anyway I just wanted to briefly announce my current "big project":

We (a team of two) are developing something new for home flight simulation and cockpit builders - to be exact, it's going to be a modular system to simulate all kind of avionics, based on latest microcontroller technology.

The whole project is done within a diploma thesis and the first prototype will be ready in spring/early summer 2007 - we do not really know yet whether this project will become public after the diploma presentation (depends on if everything works the way it should ), but we are somehow planning to publish the whole thing for other sim-builders out there, some day

More information can be obtained here
    www.sim-modules.at

We're looking forward to having a lot of work, but we'll do our best to accomplish all the things we want to do in the next few months!

    so long,
    best regards!

    Christopher Hauser

    Hello together,

I just wanted to post a short update:

The work is still going on, at the moment I've got two modules completly finished:

    One is a generic COM/NAV-Module

and the other one a Transponder-Module with Flight Level indication and squawk-entry via eight pushbuttons:

More information can be gathered here - www.sim-modules.at

I'm looking forward to develop some more Modules in the next few weeks, as the ones I already have here are really working fine

The next things I've planned is a DME-Module and a generic Autopilot - not only for General Aircraft, but also to be used as kind of "Mini-MCP" in Airline-Sims... stay tuned!

    Thank you for your attention

    good evening
    Chris
    regards,

    Another short update...

So, no one should think I'm getting lazy...

Work is still going on, even more than ever before - the deadline of my thesis work comes closer....

    Anyway, here're some news:

    - The DME-Module is readily designed and the first prototype will be finished this week. This device offers distance, time and ground-speed and can be individually allocated to either NAV1, NAV2 or GPS. I will post some pictures as soon as I have the PCBs etched...

    - Work has startet on a new "KEY"-Module... This one offers the opportunity to connect up to 128 switches, pushbuttons or LEDs to the system. Programming this thing is going to be a bit tricky, but I'm optimistic

    Thank you for your attention!

Finally, it's time for a bigger update again...

I'm happy to announce, that the first 'real' simulator project started to use Sim-Modules-technology!

This is great, as the whole system now is working really stable - also, the new Main Module is finished...

... and the software is up and running. This piece of software makes it very easy to add some buttons or switches to the PC, to simulate keyboard events, mouse clicks or to initiate FSUIPC Commands directly.

Also, all the avionic modules I have until now are working fine, with full plug-and-play-support and so on...

Now, I'm starting to think about the feature of the whole thing:

I don't know if the FlightSim-community needs one more DIY-interface like this - it is in fact a bit different from all the available systems, but I do not really know what the typical home cockpit builder really needs (I can only tell from my personal needs)

Publishing such a project, no matter in which way, is always a lot of work, regarding support, documentation and so on. I really would like to offer my system to the community, anyway I would only do so if at least some people could imagine to use a system with this basic concept I have.

It would be great for me to hear your opinion on this...

    Thanks a lot,
    best regards
