I know this is not a builders question I fly a PMDG 747 right now in FSX and my FMC kepts telling me MAX ALT FL348 what does that error mean I have my cruz ALT set to 40000. OR FL400

Hi,

it means that for the current weight of the B747, that is the maximum altitude the aircraft will be able to obtain. Reduce the payload and/or fuel load to see what the effect is on that setting. A heavier load will decrease it.

Think of it this way. When you depart with a B747 on a 9 hour flight you have lots of fuel and payload (pax and cargo etc.). The aircraft won't be able to fly at e.g FL330 for the first hour or so. As more fuel is burned, the aircraft get lighter and the FMC MAX ALT will increase, so will the Optimum ALT.

Climbing to a higher FL because now you can reach it safely, is called Step Climbing.

Do you know of any downloads that can operate the Opencockpit's FMC?
I know of Project magenta, cost too much for me at this time. If you know of others a little less expense, that would surely help me.

Don't know which cockpit you are building or FMC you want to build?

Try Sim-Avionics (B777 or B737) or Alpha FMC. Not sure if they work directly with the Opencockpit's FMC. They should if they use FSPUIC offsets.
