SAN FRANCISCO -- Circuit City Stores Inc. , which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November, said Friday it will seek Bankruptcy Court approval to liquidate the company. Circuit City does not expect any value to remain for shareholders at this time. The retail chain had employed more than 30,000 workers in the U.S. and Canada.

Want to add to that, since I stay on top of business and market reports. Other electronic stores such as Circuit City are also showing a large slowdown in sales. The good part, at least on a short term basis, we'll see electronic prices come down, such as computers, projectors, etc.

IMHO, this is not a sign of economic downturn, but a sign that brick and mortor stores can not compete with online stores such as Newegg and Amazon.

Most stores like that are going to go the way of CompUSA did. Liquidate the physical locations and someone buys out the branding to do internet sales imho.
