Post New Projectors and Flat Screens

I've been watching live feed interviews and new product reports from the CES 2009 show in Las Vegas, which is going on right now.

Besides the new Palm phones, the hit this year is the new Palm size Projectors either stand alone or integrated in mobile phones.

I was surprised to see the brightness, they were demonstrating projection of 24 inch images in lighted areas. The projectors demonstrated will project up to 40 inch screen size. Quite amazing.

They continued to say by end this year, a new revolution of palm sized high resolution projectors will be available for the 3D game world (multi projectors). BTW, all at much lower prices then current projector prices.

I've also noticed Panasonics new 60" LCD 3D monitors, projected to be priced at the second half of this year below $1,000 USD.

Obviously some opportunities coming to our Flight-Sim Visual world

I saw the article on these projectors months ago in Pop Science. Amazing product.

    And cheap too.

At my local gadget store they sell these palm sized projectors and they run using ultra bright LED's, the LED's have much longer 'shelf life' as to conventional bulbs but as they do run out or die on you eventually (not that you will ever see that day) the LED's to my knowlegge cant be replaced unless you tamper with the projector, open it up some how, de-solder the LED's and put a new bulb in, unless technology allows a quich change LED function! Around 100GBP ($200) in my store in UK, I guess you american people will get it cheaper as UK is the most heavily taxed country! Give it a year or 2 and they will go for peanuts like everything else!

But more and more im seing now!

Looking pretty good if i say so.

Imagine a 40" monitor in your pocket?

    Nice!

I checked this out at a local store here in hobart.. the techie there said they are brilliant for data presentation and convenience show off etc.. but not for games. I don't see how he had drawn that conclusion but again offered that i could try it out and if it doesn't work out i could return it.. Seemed like a good idea except i didn't have the money at the time.. I may go for it and see how it works out.

Don't get too excited about the current available pocket projectors..... The developers at the show said gaming projectors in the 2nd half of this year (most likely beginning next year.... you know how that goes). New and better projectors coming our way

What I'd really like to see are projectors that will accept a 120Hz signal... that way we could use them with the new nVidia Geforce 3D glasses.

I have a 56" rptv that will work with them. If I had some $ for a spare, I'd be tempted to experiment with turning it into a front projector. If I was to win the lottery or something, I can imagine three such beasts in a 180 deg array...
