I first joined MyCockpit.org a few months ago in 2008, and only had a flight yoke and a copy of FS2004, i was a novice, knew nothing about simming and building, although im quite clued up on general aviation as a whole, i wanted to start from the bottom and work my way up with a sim project and thought that the Cessna 182 would be an ideal aircraft to start with as i didnt want to just jump in to the bigger stuff, hence i need experience with sim building first, something the C182 will give me plenty of in terms of building experience, i asked so many of even the basic questions when i started out, i just asked everyone "how do you do this?. how do you do that? where do you buy this? how do you make that? etc", and all the time IAN replied to more or less all my questions, IAN saves the day i call it! Without IAN'S response and replies, i prob wouldnt have half of what i have now, although people like Michael Carter / Trevor Hale are invaluable for advice (oh my god i know thier full names off by heart, i must be addicted!). Upto now my setup is: avionics toggle switch panel, ignition switch, yoke, 3 lever throttle quad, flaps switch, trim wheel & rudder redals.....and a nice parking break on the way from Ian (top man!), just dreading the 1000 pound price tag for the usb guages from simkits, i dont want to pay it but i need guages now, it seems ive built everything exept the guages (the most expensive), anyway enough of me waffling on, again cheers ian and all the guys who have got me where i am now!

Ian is good for helping. Many of the members here are. Most of us want to be we just don't always have an answer for the question, even if we already did it ourselves. A weird thing you will discover as you build.

hi guys...
we all started somewhere and it's good to help out somebody just getting into a project.
it's a long learning curve and i would have loved to have had the support that is available here when i started.
and to gez...flattery will get you everywhere ... good man.
enjoy what you do and take pleasure in not only getting it working, but also in discovering how to get it to work....then share it.
