Introductions
Hello!
My name is Rob and I'm working on a Cessna Grand Caravan sim.
So far it has gone from paper to CAD...
This is going to be a lot of work, in fact, MSFS may be on their next version by the time I finish
My budget is pretty tight so I'll be building almost everything from scratch. I've been writing windows applications in VB and programming PIC's for a few years so I'm sure I'll be able to do most of the interfacing myself (with the help of these great forums). I also have access to a milling machine, lathe, and various other tools and equipment. That's going to help tremendously.
I guess all those years of machining and writing code has culminated in this ultimate adventure lol!
If I can help anyone with PIC programming I'd be happy to.
Thanks for all the information so far!!!
Here's the initial CAD of the front panel:

Nice panel design.
I could use your help on a project with PICs. I'm afraid I'm a bit over my head on this one. I understand how it all works but I simply don't have the time to get it all done.
To get a good understanding on the project, read this thread:

Hi Rob, welcome aboard the Crazy Train.
The Caravan was the first, only, and last turbo-prop I ever got to log an hour in. Great airplane. I really love it and wish I could afford one...with floats.
I'd be up in the UP on Lake Superior so fast it'd make lightning jealous.Boeing Skunk Works

Thanks! I plan on putting the floats on this one eventually
Well, it's pretty interesting that you led me to that thread since it's the thread that got me lurking around here for a few weeks!!
I was looking for a method to build an HSI myself and have left that to a future upgrade (my last gauge built lol!)
I'll go back and catch up a bit more in-depth and see where the project has left off.

There are several here working on a King 3" HSI. Haven't heard how the project is coming along but they were hot and heavy about it around four months ago or so.
I wouldn't mind having one myself, but I need a 4" Collins.Boeing Skunk Works

Scott is making parts and I was working on the controller circiuts, but PIC's are just outside my experience.
I have the basic specs for the parts, I can send them on to you if you think you can build the circiut on a single board.God's in command, I'm just the Pilot.

Sure thing! Give me an idea of how many motors / feedback you want to control and we'll see if we can make it happen. I'm gonna need one of these too!!
How much board space are you working with?
Stepping rates?
...any other info or program flow-charts you've created already.
I'd enjoy helping out!
