    Greetings from Southern Ontario, Canada

    Hello everyone,

I have been lurking here for a few months and have even made a couple of minor inquiries as I get started with my brainstorming and planning for a GA cockpit. Most likely will be based on a Cessna panel although I am not intending on an exact replica.

So far I have purchased my first GoFlight product (166 radio module) and that is about it. I think my next steps will include

    - some carpentry to put together a station that I can start building around
    - saving for a TH2Go and monitors
    - building a 530 GPS unit

The GPS "project" has me most interested right now. I am debating between a more realistic option with buttons and dials or a touch screen option to get started. My electronic knowledge is quite limited and I am sure I will have a number of rookie type questions if I go the buttons/dials route. However it seems this group is quite helpful towards others so that is encouraging. On the other hand the touchscreen option probably gets me up and running more quickly.

One quick question for the other Canadian builders out there (especially those in the GTA) - are there any Canadian based "suppliers" out there? I have been doing the typical web based research including EBay for things like PSOne LCD screens, touchscreens, etc but not much too choose from here. For example I saw some 10.4" TFT touchscreens on EBay which can probably be had for $25US (no cables or cases) but shipping is another $40US plus the chance of customs fees on top of that.

    Any tips would be appreciated.

    Seasons Greetings to all, Dave.

    Hi Dave

There's Flight Deck Solutions up in Aurora:

    http://www.flightdecksolutions.com/

For me, it's pretty much been eBay, Home Depot and Sayal's. I been buying my Goflight stuff from Digital Flight:

    http://www.digital-flight.com/

Tony's a great guy and lowest prices around for Goflight.

There's also Aviation World and Threshold Aviation which is worth checking out. They're near the airport.

    Regards,
    Henry

Thanks Henry. I actually went to high school for a few years with Peter Cos at Flight Deck but haven't seen him since then ( a loooooong time ago).

Is Digital-Flight located in Canada? Seems odd that they can sell Go-Flight stuff for less than the "factory".

I have been to Aviation World once before, thanks for the reminder they are near by. In the meantime I will keep looking for "deals" at eBay.

    Cheers, Dave
