    Cool A320 Panel True color

    Ok guys, i know that are allways questions regarding bus colors, so ill give my contribute away:

    Ive matched with hardware a real airbus panel, and the most realistic color you can find in the market for an airbus panel would be NCS (natural color system) 5020B.. i would say its 95% close to the real panel one.

    Cheers

    I remember Phil telling me in Lelystad that even in the real aircraft, the various panels have slightly different coloring and even different finishes (mat vs. shiny) because they are produced by different companies.

    That is true Efe, even airbus allows small color changes to suit customer's choices.. though, the colors are almost identical. But the true is that i never seen a panel that would make a complete justice to the famous "airbus" color, i think this one is a great approach to something you would expect to find in real Airbus.. Im gonna use smi-gloss eggshell latex painting...mat versus Shinny, well, they usually test them because of light reflexion effects, I think the newest airbus layout its a lot more mat, being the oldest ones more shinny coated (the MIP for example) Anyway..its a personal sugestion based in some real life experience, and a real airbus part.. i hope it helps!..but remenber..its the PANEL color.. the MIP is identical, but pedestal and sidestickareas are slightly different...

    Cheers.

    phil is TOTALLY right.

    There ARE differences in color/finish, etc even in BRANDNEW machines.

    Same goes for boeing....

    People here spend alot of time searching for THE airbus or THE boeing colour (and there's nothing wrong with perfectionism (hi phil ) ....

    But there is no boeing or airbus colour. Sure there's a code for it. But even if you order 2 cans of the same colour code from the original manufacturer, you will see slight changes in tint.

    But: Its always nice to come close to the 'correct colour' ...so in that respect: Thanks for the colour code (for all the bus builders that is)

    I allways tell people that if they want their flightdeck to look real authentic, they need:
    * at least 3 different shades of panels
    * chip some paint of some panels
    * spill alot of coffee on parts we wouldnt usually want to spill coffee on.
    * throw around breadcrumbs everywhere....
    * give fungus a chance (especially in a 737)
    * collect dust everywhere.
    * place footprints at the most convenient places

    Sorry Alex, didn't mean for my message to sound like I didn't appreciate the information you shared. Of course, we love every bit of information we can get our hands on. I just wanted to make sure people knew that variation is common and inevitable even in the real aircraft, like Stef also mentioned.

    I have at least three different colors of Boeing gray on my real panels so picking out a gray for the instrument panel was no big deal.

    I think it's Krylon Rust Tuff Battleship Grey. On the seat and the yoke I used a ceramic paint from Dupli-Color called New Ford Gray.

    I think the throttle has the Krylon.

    The shell is painted with an oil based paint that was color mixed from the cap off of a can of spray primer. I took it over to the girl and asked for a "quart of this color" as I handed the can of spray primer to her.
