    G-1000 Simulator for Your Cockpit

For those building cockpits of general aviation aircraft for use with FSX or FS2004, consider the glass cockpit as a way to make your flight deck as state of the art as the planes are now!

The Garmin G1000 has revolutionized general aviation by combining communications, performance, and navigation into one package. I have to admit, I learned to fly using the 'steam' gauges, but now, I can't go back.

We have been watching that site for a while now but it has never had any prices posted. If it had a reasonable cost I'm sure that you would be making sales.

This page lists the price at EUR 1280 and $1920 US.

    http://www.glass-cockpit.org/en/market/default.htm

Says "Complete G1K Sim" but only shows the PDF. So maybe you have to buy two units?

Also, a forum post states you undock the stock FS G1000 and move it to their G1K unit. Question, how do you remove the bezel graphic on FS G1000? You can't stretch a view you can't see.

Some of us don't want or need a state of the art panel in our simulator.

Might be nice to hop in a 206 at the local airport with that panel, but I'll keep my steam gauge panel in the simulator.

    Pfd / mfd

    Hi, Guys

The G1K can be used in either PFD or MFD mode. For prices, go to the main page (Glass-cockpit.org), then click on Hardware. Prices are in U.S. dollars and Euros.

Hee hee hee. Because they have you by the gonads and they know it!

Seriously, a lot of the stuff in this hobby probably doesn't move too well so the cost is higher. Ha ha ha.

Can you imagine what a set of 727 overhead light plates would cost if someone were to offer them?

Let's see now, how many builders are building a 727? I don't think I have to take of my shoes to count that high. I could even leave a mitten on one hand and still have an accurate count on the other.

That goes for a lot of other un-mainstream builders too.

God, what would happen if everyone abandoned their current project and decided, en-mass, to build 727's? Watch the parts market explode, with cheaper prices to boot.

Supply and demand. Or in most builders cases, demand and supply.

    $$$$$ and Aviation

    I like this one:

A/C spark plugs makes one particular model that just so happens to meet Lycoming specs.

If you bought this plug at an auto parts store, it's $.95

If you bought this plug at your local FBO, it's $4.95.

The difference? One says 'aviation spark plug' on the packaging.
