    737 pilot seat.

    Hi all!

I have plans to build a 737NG pilots seat, just to get started. Its something I can do my self without any hardware or software.

But I really need pictures or even better blueprints. I know that a few here have in fact build really great seats.
Would be great to know not only the genereal design, but also the interiors of the seat.
For instance, are there springs or is it made up of several layers of cushioning?

    Hi Efe.

Yes I read the links, they helped but not being experinced at all with building anything it dosent help too much.

For seats, they are usually built up of different density layers of foam. Springs would not really fit this application. However, you could install a set of small rollers in the seat that go back and forth under you as you sit. It would help prevent DVT which is something simmers could suffer as well as real pilots.

DVT= Deep Vein Thrombosis. It's a blood clot that comes from sitting too long.

I actually try and keep my flights to 2 hours or less so I can get up and stretch and rub my legs to help prevent this.

There are no springs in the Weber seats. Not sure about IPECO. The Weber's only use a cushion for the seat and the back. Not sure about how thick it is but from photos it looks to be about 3", same as what I used. Might only be 2" though.

I've seen seat cushions in pretty sad shape from well-used seats. The foam almost seems to compress and stay that way. It also appears somewhat saggy on some seats. I'm not sure what sort of foam they use other than it being fire retardant, but it doesn't seem to hold it's shape very well over time.

Some here have real seats in their cockpits. You might start a thread requesting pictures from these members. I don't know who they are off the top of my head.
