    Australian Down under Magic

G'day here is a bit about my organisation and what I do.

About Digital Simulation Services Australia Products & Services?
Digital Simulation Services Australia (DSSA) is an All Australian based simulation company serving the civil, defence, training, enthusiast and simulation market world wide. Products range from desktop simulation, parts & kits through to full mission and motion simulators. DSSA all Electric based simulators, are highly reliable, have extremely low running cost and are easy to maintain, which ensures your simulator is available 24hrs a day 7 days a week to suit your operational or training requirements.

DSSA’s commitment to cots technology, authentic flight environments and unique software design, means that is to able offer a broad range of products and services for the training & simulation market. All products are easily tailored to meet individual customer requirements. Helicopter flight & ground training school’s world wide are increasingly recognising the value of cost effective, high fidelity simulators that use the latest digital technology to help raise safety standards and increase pilot environment awareness and training.

DSSA Flight Training devices (FTD) or synthetic training devices (STD) have been designed to address these issues and qualify to the highest standards. Digital technologies, both hardware and software are providing this High fidelity simulation based training, which is no longer exclusively in the domain of the full flight simulator, level D. The Digital Simulation Services Australia, helicopter flight training device, provides authentic high fidelity type related helicopter flight training at a realistic and affordable price. DSSA range of Simulators provides for systems management, recurrent training, IFR & VFR Training, revalidation & renewal, currentcy, winch training, multi crew training and type validation training & checking. The DSSA helicopter flight training device, when configured to your type Specific simulator, is designed to provide the broadest ranger of training capabilities at an affordable price.

Every DSSA flight simulators, Visual & computing environment is highly flexible and allows for multiple cockpits or simulators to be fully interconnected to each other, each with either a single display channel option through to a 16 channel display system.
DSSA takes full advantage of Commercial off the shelf technology with very high end pc's used to operate the simulation environment. DSSA's approach to Helicopter Flight Simulator construction and to the software that is used to give you the ultimate in helicopter flight simulation is the configurability and commonality of hardware and software between the different DSSA helicopter flight simulator systems available.

The combination of cots technology, attention to detail in design, commonality in hardware & software, high performance processors, realistic flight environments, sceneries, scenarios and real time weather generators, ensures that any modification in the helicopter FTD type can be easily modified in a timely and cost effective manner.

DSSA also provides a range of features that it calls standard, with all of its simulators. These include but are not limited to actual helicopter seats and parts, Cavitation/ Vibration cueing, surround audio placement, seatbelts & harnesses, all warning and Annunciator panels, provision for helmets or headsets, Nato & non nato plug sets, authentic cockpit lighting, wrapped display screens, carpeted cockpit capsules, full authentic looking windscreens, doors, windows, cyclic’s, collectives, throttles, anit-torque pedals, chokes and vents that are relevant to each specific type, all overhead & console panel systems, ducted air, and skid sets for static systems but to name a few. The position of all gauges, avionics, navigation equipment, switches, and associated controls, both for the pilot and co-pilots side are positioned exactly the same as the real aircraft that is being type specific modelled. This also includes load resistance or dampening of control surfaces for high fidelity cockpit simulation to give you that feeling of truly flying that type specific helicopter.

DSSA also provides the option for 2 DoF through to 6 DoF full motion systems for high gain tasking. This coupled with the super high resolution, multiple channel wrapped display system, gives you full immersion and a synergy that makes you feel as though you are flying the real helicopter.

One of the key factors in all DSSA products is the quality and attention to detail of the software being used. Each Helicopter is modelled on manufactures specific flight data profile, with all the helicopter flight systems being represented, including the basic stability augmentation system through to the more complex autopilot systems, multi-crew training environments and multi simulation such as flight and winch training all in the one platform. This would also include engine performance data and simulation of all malfunction or system failures to make the platform as real as it can get.
Full simulation of navigation, GPS, Air Traffic control, AI aircraft, flight planning, ground effects, crash effects, weather and a host of other parameters are also part of the standard setup of a Digital Simulation Services Australia Helicopter Full flight simulator. All parameters and situations are controllable from the instructor station including an emergency shut system if required.

DSSA uses the family of Microsoft operating system and software that is easily used by both students and instructors. Digital Simulation Services Australia (DSSA) can provide you with a simulator that has maximum fidelity and immersion, is extremely robust, highly reliable, easily maintained and cost effective. With the flexibility and range of products and services available, a DSSA Helicopter flight simulator solution is available to meet almost all helicopter flight training needs.

Digital Simulation Services Australia new product release.

Due to increasing demand from the home enthusiast sector for flight simulation, DSSA in association with FlightSim Store are proud to present the first in a range of products for the home builder. DSSA & FlightSim Store are the first to bring you these fantastic products at realistic prices for the first time ever in Australia. The shell tooling has been reproduced from an actual aircraft and it has taken many hundreds of man hours and over quarter of a million dollars in development cost to bring this aircraft shell to the simulator market place. We have spent the time and money developing this aircraft shell so you don’t have to, so take advantage of this new product when thinking about your next simulator project. All shells are custom made to order.

The Bell 206 III Jetranger Shell is now available.

Each simulator shell is carefully hand crafted to the highest standards, not only in terms of craftsmanship but also in materials. The fibreglass shell is composed of commercial grade fibreglass reinforcements and resins. The purpose of using commercial fibreglass is that its price is so much lower then than that of Aviation grade. It offers a very durable end result which gives strength in all areas. A wide range of standard colours are available to choose from and custom liveries can be catered for as well. Unlike the limited shells available for helicopters from overseas, the all Australian DSSA Bell 206B III Shell comes complete with the Flooring System, Avionics & Electronics Ducts, and Benched seat riser.

Each Shell can be quickly attached to most forms of Motion systems with the least effort. DSSA is dedicated to looking after you and your budget and making components available for home builders.

The Bell 206 III shells have windshields & chin windows that are rubber mounted which are supplied separately for your convenience and come in a range of standard tints being Bronze tint, Blue tint and clear which are the same colours as used by operation aircraft.
All windshields and windows are carefully handcrafted from the highest grade of commercial Acrylic sheet materials. Each piece is carefully molded to shape and cut to the exact measurements required for each unit. These windshields & windows are made from the same tooling that produce parts for serviceable Bell helicopter aircraft.

Mounting of the Shells is fast and easy with either a box mount system or skid sets available.

Soon to be released will be Robinson R22, R44 & R66 helicopter shells and Piper aircraft shells, which will all be complemented with the availability of internal fittings & fixtures including those for the Bell 206 III Jetranger & Longranger in a range of different styles and colours. Certainly would look less complicated (to build) compared to some of the Airplane Sims. Biggest challenge I would think is the visuals. Almost need 360 to get the feel of it or just fly it right.

I haven't confirmed this rumour with CNN, but I heard the only reason helicopters are able to rise above ground level is because they are so ugly that the earth repels them
