The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has granted Airbus a single Production Organisation Approval (POA), which replaces the previous four Airbus POAs issued by the French, German, Spanish and UK Civil Aviation Authorities.

The Airbus single POA is both a driver for the harmonisation of tools and processes and a facilitator for the implementation of the current trans-national centres-of-excellence, programmes and functions.

The new single POA recognises Airbus' status as a single integrated European company, which Airbus has been working towards since 2000. It also verifies that a global quality framework for the management, responsibilities, procedures and resources has been established.

The certification is the result of a lengthy process which involved a comprehensive assessment of the organisation by a mixed team of staff and experts from France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. EASA also takes over the task to issue Export Certificates of Airworthiness for complete aircraft delivered outside the EASA Member States.

Airbus is an EADS company.
