    Live Flight Tracker

Anyone recommend a free flight tracker where you get a real time radar view of traffic around an airport? I found loads of arrivals / departure boards or snapshot views, but no real time.

    Thank you

    Not Freeware

I cannot recommend one, but I have seen the service offered, maybe in a magazine, maybe on the web. Basically, they sold you a sattelite receiver, and then you had to purchase a monthly subscrition service, and I can't remember exactly what the interface was, maybe a link-up to your computer so one could watch, I thought also you could listen into live ATC for the areas you selected.

    Hi Dee,
Actually that's what gave me the idea. I spent an afternoon listening in. Reminds me of my childhood, but I'd never have believed I could do that from my office.

I was thinking it would be great to get live ATC and see the radar screen. I have seen a 'live' view before for LAX but not sure what the link was. It may not have been 100% live though, you know National Security mumbo jumbo.

    Try here: http://www.atcmonitor.com/

You can listen as well as watch Atlanta Center and the TRACON. Updated automatically. There is about a two minute delay or so in the display for security.
