    737NG Update

    Hi,

Attached are the most recent photo's of my 737NG sim/convert the attic into an airliner project...!

    - Most of the backlighting, LED's, switches are in and working thanks to the FDS Sys 3 board. Still waiting on the landing gear unit from FDS... taking a while.

    - Co-pilot panel arrived from Engravity this week, so started getting that installed and building the other side wall.

    - The exterior lighting and engine start overhead panels arrived from Cockpitsonic USA - very good quality, already mounted with electronics and knobs - interfaced through the sys3 board and FSUIPC. Will work my way up to the rest of the overhead when either A; I get some more work to pay for it, or B; I just max out the credit card (think of all those air-miles though!).

    - 10inch touch screen TFT also arrived (brand new via Ebay for £90) - using this as the CDU/FMS which works really well until I can afford to buy the Engravity hardware CDU. I'll then put the 10inch TFT in the center panel with some "real" gauges instead of my 17inch thats there at the moment providing EICAS and standby instruments.

So much to do... So many nice things to buy... (if I could afford them!). God I love this hobby!!!

    Kind regards,
    Dan

    Dan,

Great job on the cockpit. Looks very impressive. Just wondering about the 10 inch LCD from Ebay. What brand and model is it cause I'm looking for one myself. I am currently using a 17in Touchscreen LCD for my Lwr EICAS and FMC as well but am going to buy the Engravity CDU next month ( saved up for that ) and would like to remove the 17in and replace with the 10in for the Lwr EICAS next to the CDU.

Interesting as well....does the overhead start switches come with a relay for starting that release when engine N2 speed reaches 50%for the starter cut-out?

    Regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

The 10 inch TFT is from a seller in Hong Kong (bit closer to you than me, although it only took 2 days to get to me!). The link to the ebay shop is:
http://stores.ebay.com/b-billion-com - let me know if that doesn't work.

The starter switches I have don't come with the relay, I just turn them off manually as soon as the software start switches cut-out - seems to work fine. You could just order the panel on its own (15 euros) and add your own hardware (I seem to remember seeing those switches with relays on another cockpit parts shop somewhere).

Have fun with the CDU when you get it - I'm very envious!

    Kind regards,

    Dan

Dan, what is the viewable area of that 10" screen? Length and width?

The screen itself is 21cm by 16cm (or 8 1/4 by 6 1/4 inches). With the case around it, the total dimensions are 27cm by 19cm (10 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches).

All of the connections are on the bottom of the frame (not the back), so you need to allow space for the plugs and cables you are running to it (about an inch).

    Hope that helps,

    Regards,
    Dan

Thanks Dan. Right height but wrong width.

    Wish I could find a 12" widescreen.
