Side (left) view monitor - disalignment

    Hi all,

For my main display, I use 3 x 19" (standard 4:3) TFT monitors with Triplehead2go.

As this great set up only uses 1 x output on the back of my PC, I decided to try adding another monitor to the second output, and setting this up as a full side view on my left hand side (set to the VIEW-LEFT view within FS).

I set this up and all went really well, except that the view is completely out of alignment with the main (triplehead2go) display.

I can get it so that it looks aligned when on the ground and lined up on the runway, but as soon as I take off, everything goes a little mad!

    Now, the monitor I am using for this 'left view' is a WIDESCREEN 20.1" TFT, so my question is;

....am I having these problems because the Widescreen TFT is a different resolution and aspect ratio (16:9) to the 3x19" monitors ?

I'd love to have this left side view and would invest in another standard 19" monitor, as long as I knew it was going to work.

My other concern is that the Triplehead2go 'stretches' the display and effectively shows the 'forward left' view as part of the main view.... so I am wondering if this would 'upset' and clash with the new 'left view' monitor.

    Any pointers on this ?

    Thanks for the help,

    Hi David,

I don't really have an answer for you, but I am aware of some anomolies with FS's views being not what they seem. Below is a link to a sim having done some extensive testing on views and screen placement to maximise, albeit projectors, using the TH2GO. It might help with your situation.

Ken that is really helpful, both for this issue, and in general..... I would recommend everyone to take a read of that link - fascinating how FS handles views!

    Thanks again for the link

That link looks strangely familiar ... but standby.. version 2 of that (which is quite different) will appear when I finally get some time to write it up.

    Great Nic,

I look forward to your update. Although I'm not using projectors I find your research very interesting as there is a lot of misunderstanding out there about FS views and I'm sure the correct information will help many like myself and David to obtain a more accurate outside view.

    Nic,

I hope you can add some idea of dimensions as well - I would like to do something similar, and do away with my side monitors, but have similar space restrictions either side of the shell, so need to combine back and front projection with mirrors (and probably a bit of smoke!)

Keep up the good work - we need the Pie & Ear Corps down there to keep us pom ex pat types sharp over the long northern winter!
