    New 767 Builder

    Hi Everyone

I've been flying flight sim since the Apple II days. Have every combat sim and MS FS that ever came out. Once me and a buddy even rented the Air Canada DC-8 simulator for 3 hours.... what a blast that was. Anyway, am currently flying the Level D 767 and have been slowly putting together a cockpit for the past 6 months..... it's nowhere near or ever will be close to being something where people will go "Wow, what an awesome cockpit"... especially compare to what some of you have.

Trevor, I see you're a Northern Ont boy.... I was born and raised in Kapuskasing (left a long time ago).... still have some family in Timmins so of course we have to passed through New Liskeard to get there.... as a matter of fact we always stop off at either the McDonalds or the Tim Hortons as we pass through.

Great website and community that you have here.

    Regards,
    Henry

Hi Henry. Very good to have you here. Please don't cut yourself short by saying you can't.. I couldn't either when I first started but look where it is now... I am happy with it.. So far.... As you build and your sim grows, so do your skills. Please let us see some pictures of your project and I look forward to watching it grow.. And PLEASE don't swell Trevor's head too much.. He has enough trouble getting in and out of his cockpit as it is!

    Hey Henry,

I only just moved to New Liskeard, 1.5 years ago from Toronto. Moved up here for work. It was sad to disassemble my A320 cockpit, however I have learned that every time you rebuild your cockpit it gets better and better. The next time your through the area, you should pop in and have a flight. Timmins as you know is only 1.5 hours further north then me.

One thing I would say about the north, is it's like living at the cottage all year around. I Love it, and don't think I could ever go back to the city life. The beauty of the internet allows me to stay in contact with all the friends I have made over the years at Mycockpit.org.

Welcome to our community, and I am eager to see pictures of your progress.

I am looking forward to talking to you further.

    Best regards,

    Trev

Yeah, but now he'll have a good excuse to keep flying...."sorry dear, I can't get out, I guess I'll just have to do another flight".

I guess that really shows my age eh? Matt, I actually discovered your website back before I found this one. Fantastic job you did there.

Hey Trev, I'll let you know the next time that I'm making a trip up there (maybe next summer). I would love to see your cockpit.

    Regards,
    Henry

    Hey Henry,

It would be my pleasure to have you over. I will just have to get the wife to be a trained stewardess and we will be all set. That gives me a year to perfect her training, either that or I will be divorced. LOL

Looking forward to see you pit.

    Best regards,

    Trev

PS. I have no problems staying in the cockpit, as long as there is a steady flow of BEER. The next addition is KEG taps in the Captains left leg panel.

G'day to you too. My wife spent a few years working in Canberra. Then I made her come back so we could get married. I went down to visit her for 3 weeks. Nice country, except for the fact that you all drive on the wrong side of the road.

Are you the same Gwyn in that article "Three Men and a Boeing"? That article was a real hoot.

Really like your cockpit, especially how you accomplished so much by spending so little. Got a few questions for you but I'll post in the appropriate forums.

    Regards,
    Henry

Hello Henry, welcome to the forum.

Never say you can't do something. You might be surprised at what you can learn to build. Nothing is impossible anymore in this hobby.

I'm a electrical engineer by training although much of my career has been in software development. Give me a soldering iron or a computer and I'm comfortable. But give me a piece of wood and a saw (or drill), look out, say goodbye to the wood. I'm probably the only guy who could make a 3 legged stool and it will wobble.

On a more serious note, it has been fun so far (and frustrating too) and I'm slowly learning.

By the way, great job on the chair.

    Regards,
    Henry
