How to get additoional joystick buttons?

This will be interesting... until i can afford the Skalrki FCU i was thinking to add (somehow) more joystick buttons so i can assign some of the most common commands to them... as i understand i cannot assign any keyboard keys to them ...

I did a little searching and was wondering of there exists a pad of some kind with buttons that could be assigned? Less the joystick itself as i already have one...

Is there another alternative be to getting more buttons? Maybe an emulator?

    Much obliged folks

    Doug

    Wow!

Thanks heaps Stephen! Thats exactly what i am after... a question though... the actual buttons... sorry for sounding stupid, but where do they go? I assume i would need to make a housing of sorts and buy the buttons? Could you tell me a little how it fits together if not to much trouble?

    Cheers and thanks

Re: How to get additoional joystick buttons?

I not too sure if I understand correctly, but here is a picture of my current overhead panel (simple, but better than nothing https://www.dropbox.com/s/b8uu7dsa0p...20073.jpg?dl=0

As you can see the Arcaze interface card is connected to each button. It provides 40 digital inputs and is recognized as a 40-button gamecontroller in Windows. With a little software tool you can define the button press, and then you can assign this button press to a JeeHell function.

The Bodnar card works in a similar way, but I have no experience with that, so maybe a Bodnar user can help.

    Regards,
    Stephan

Re: How to get additoional joystick buttons?

    Doug,
if you like to have quick and a simple solution for the i.e. the overhead you can also use your keyboard. Im using a normal keyboard having made some lua-scripts for fsuipc and marked the keyboard buttons with colored stickers.

The scripts are setting the adequate FMGS offsets as described in the manual and the keyboard is connected to the flying sim.

    Regards, Stefan

Re: How to get additoional joystick buttons?

    Hi Stefan,

This sounds like the business indeed! Any chance of getting the scripts for FSUIPC my friend? I have the paid version so should be ok... as to set-up, do the scripts work for the FCU as well or the overhead only?

Would love to give this a try!

Thanks for taking the time to respond! This is getting really exciting!

    Cheers Doug

Thanks Les - that is great and thanks for the input... As i use P3D, would the simconnect be an issue as i understand P3D doesn't use it?

Much appreciated Stephen... yes indeed as i thought... i would need to purchase the actual buttons themselves and make a unit to attach them to as you have... that could be the go once i get my head around the wiring side of things - i can see this having great merit

    More thinking required mate!

Thanks heaps for the reply and picture!

    Doug,
It appears looking in their forum that someone is using it in P3d and xplane.
