    Front Gauge rings

    Hi

Could anybody tell me where I could purchase front gauge rings to trim a panel with the gauges displayed behind on a 19 inch monitor.

    Thanks

    Steve

I need some about 15mm deep to allow room for a rotary encoder behind.

Just buy a broken gauge from ebay, take off the bezel and make a mold using clay. Fill the mould with silicone and add a little hardner and you can make hundreds of the little fellas.

Or use the ends of party cups. Wilkinson's sells party cups with a very convenient measurement of 79mm dia. Just cut the last 10mm -15mm off each cup, then prime and paint. I done this when building my Cessna 172 and got some 79mm dia clear discs made which I inserted in each one to give the effect of a real gauge.

    See picture:

isn't 15mm too deep to see the gauges unless your eyeline is directly in front of each gauge? I took the front bezel off of my monitor to allow me to put the panel flush against it so the gauges aren't obscured by the panel.

10-15mm too deep?.......... Probably! (Was just using this as an example!)

Cut off rings at however deep your MIP is.......

Mine were actually around 2-3mm deep, just cut to however deep you want it!

    Hi

Yes 15mm is too deep, the encoders are however 10mm deep, and so there needs to be a gap of 10mm, this is okay I think.
