Servo Cards Help
Will the open cockpits servo card be capable of controlling both micro servo's aswell as normal servo's. Just that I actually have 4 micro servo's in an old RC plane that I used to fly and was wondering if I could use them instead to save some money.
Thank you.

Re: Servo Cards Help
Alex
I use Hitec HS-55 servos which are a fraction of the size of a standard Futaba servo. They work fine on the OC servo board.

Re: Servo Cards Help
Super, thats another 2 gauges I can get on with now!
Could you tell me also where to get gears from, as instruments like the ASI
will be run on unmodified servos...I am assuming you can do this?
Cheers David....
I am sure we will talk again real soon....

Hi Alex
Here you go:-

The Mod 0.5 size gears are the ones you need.

Re: Servo Cards Help
I bought gears from Serv-O-Link for the instruments I am building. They might have something that will work for you.

Re: Servo Cards Help
Cheers alot guys....
I think I will buy a selection pack and work out what I can achieve.
I need to convert 180 degree movement to about a 300 degree movement.
So I am assuming a large cog on the servo to a small cog on the needle!
Cheers guys!

Re: Servo Cards Help
So the asi is something like this from looking at measurements and pictures, I have got to this stage:
http://alexpilot.50g.com/make%20asi.jpg
This is using an unmodified servo HS-55
EDIT: How do you calculate the number of teeth required or do you just buy selection packs and
play around until you get the right movements?
RE-EDIT: I fully understand that I need to do some research on gear ratio!!!
Cheers.

Alex
Its not rocket science - just count the teeth. So for your example you need double the teeth on the servo as opposed to the gear on the ASI needle. It is always a good idea to have some extra movement in hand as some servos can get a bit jittery when you need to move them to their extreme positions
